expertise
I integrate a diverse range of therapeutic modalities tailored to meet individual client needs. Below are a few of the core I draw from.
Attachment Theory
Attachment theory focuses on the relationships and bonds between individuals. Developed by John Bowlby, this theory emphasizes the importance of secure attachments in early development between child and caregivers for healthy emotional and psychological growth. In therapy, understanding a client's attachment style can help address issues related to trust, intimacy, and emotional regulation. I possess extensive training and experience in utilizing attachment theory applying its principles to counseling. My deep understanding of how early attachment experiences shape emotional and relational patterns allows me to tailor my therapeutic approach to each client's unique needs. By identifying and addressing insecure attachment styles, I help clients develop healthier relationships and improve emotional regulation.
Cogntive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
As an expert in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), I utilize the concept of neuroplasticity to help my clients rewire their brains for positive change. Neuroplasticity, the brain's ability to form new neural pathways, is pivotal in CBT. By identifying and challenging negative thought patterns, clients can create healthier mental habits. Through consistent practice and tailored interventions, I guide clients in strengthening these new pathways, leading to lasting improvements in their emotional regulation, resilience, and overall mental health.
Mindfulness-Based Therapies
Since 2018, I've been an active member of my own mindfulness-based community which enriches my therapeutic practice. I use mindfulness-based therapy to help clients heal by teaching them to stay present, observe their thoughts non-judgmentally, and cultivate self-awareness. This approach reduces stress, enhances emotional regulation, and promotes inner resilience. My personal experience deepens my empathy and effectiveness as a therapist, enabling me to guide clients towards greater mental and emotional well-being with authenticity and insight.
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)
I integrate Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) into my therapeutic practice, enhancing the support I provide to clients. Through techniques such as bilateral stimulation—using eye movements, handheld buzzers, and “butterfly tapping”—I have successfully helped clients reprocess traumatic memories, significantly reducing their emotional intensity. This evidence-based approach has proven effective in empowering individuals to overcome PTSD and other trauma-related challenges, fostering their journey toward healing and resilience.
Expressive Arts Therapies
Expressive arts therapies, such as sandtray therapy and child-centered play therapy (CCPT), are highly effective modalities for working with children in a mental health setting. These approaches allow children to express their emotions, thoughts, and experiences in a non-verbal and creative manner, which can be especially beneficial for those who have difficulty articulating their feelings. Sandtray therapy involves using miniature figures and a sandbox to create scenes that reflect a client's inner world, providing insights into their subconscious. Child-centered play therapy, on the other hand, relies on the natural language of play to help children process and understand their experiences. Both therapies prioritize the child's autonomy and inner resources, creating a safe and supportive environment where they can explore their feelings and develop coping strategies. By engaging in these therapeutic techniques, children can gain a sense of control, improve their emotional regulation, and enhance their overall mental health and well-being.
